Initial Situation

The requirement

Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is a rare, hereditary metabolic disorder. The disease affects fewer than 1 in 100,000 people. It is caused by a genetic defect (mutation) of the gene called the ALPL gene. A need was identified for a platform that would facilitate the recording of cases of the disease and facilitate connections between researchers, doctors and laboratories working in this field worldwide.

Our Solution

That is what we have implemented

The ALPL mutation database provides a global public reporting portal for researchers, doctors and laboratories. It is a platform that offers a reporting system for new cases, which are reviewed by the system. Mutations and the associated patient data can be recorded anonymously and undergo various examination steps in an internal administration interface of the application. At the end of this process, all relevant cases are published under the subheading “Table of mutations.” The application offers a constantly growing database of various mutations of the ALPL gene and is primarily intended to advance research on the disease hypophosphatasia.
